Cities to Visit: Glen Rose, Texas
Glen Rose is best known as the "Dinosaur Capital
of Texas," but there is more to enjoy on your trip to Glen Rose.
On the historic square visitors will find a quaint
courthouse, shops, restaurants and a free museum with a gorgeous backdrop
of hills and rivers. Dinosaur Valley State Park is the
focal point for visitors and dinosaur tracks can be viewed by the public.
The state park offers camping, hiking, biking trails and access to the Paluxy
River.
Glen Rose has gained international fame as home to Fossil Rim
Wildlife Center. It features a 9.5 mile self-guided drive
that includes a nature store, picnic area, petting pasture and playground.
Behind the scene tours are also available and there are also overnight
accommodations.
Glen Rose has several museums, including the Creation Evidence
Museum, Barnard's Mill and Art Museum, and
the Somervell County Museum. Glen Rose also has Squaw
Valley Golf Course, which is a spectacular 36-hole course. The
Promise is an epic musical drama about the life of Jesus Christ.
It is performed every Friday and Saturday evening from the first of
June through the end of October.
When planning a trip to Glen Rose you can not experience it all in one
