100-year-old C.S. Roberts Home, Sherman

Cities to Visit: Sherman, Texas

Being just one hour north of Dallas on Hwy 75, Sherman is close enough to get there and far enough to get away. Go back in time in this "Retroplex" of North Texas and enjoy all the comforts of the country with city sophistication.

Plan on staying overnight and take full advantage of all Sherman has to offer. The Sherman Community Series presents the Sherman Symphony Orchestra. Or, spend your evening at the theatre. The Sherman Community Players present live theater for adults and children at the Honey McGee Theatre.

Enjoy an evening concert on the Municipal Lawn at historic Kidd-Key Auditorium on Thursdays in June and July. The Hot Summer Nights Concert Series is a free concert that brings big name entertainment to a small town atmosphere. On the 3rd weekend in September enjoy the Sherman Art Festival and Hispanic Heritage Festival. This 2 day event features artists and crafters from all over, live entertainment and great food. Don't miss the Red River Birding Festival in April.

Downtown Sherman offers an array of shops and dining on the courthouse square. Don't miss the Christmas Parade and Snowflake Festival on the first Friday in December. While you're downtown, visit the Red River Historical Museum.

With a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants and accommodations, Sherman is your weekend getaway to fun.
