Dia de los Muertos Festival

Join us for the 11th Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival Saturday, October 27, 3 pm to midnight in the streets of downtown Corpus Christi. Learn about the rich cultural tradition of Dia de los Muertos and create connections to your past as we honor and celebrate deceased loved ones. Come in costume, get your face painted, shop, and adorn your hair with floral headbands! Then, dance the night away to the music of Grupo Massore, Bang Data orMexicana and the Monster Squad.
Enjoy live entertainment on three stages: Latin-influenced rock and pop music, Tejano, Cumbia, Mariachis, Ballet Folklorico and dancers, DJ’s and regional up-and-coming bands. The event also includes an Art and Crafts Expo, Kids’ Activities, Walk of Remembrance Ofrenda Display, art exhibitions, Low Rider Car Show, food, drinks and hashtag-worthy artworks.
Our juried Hecho-a-Mano Art Expo features quality fine arts and crafts, jewelry and Dia de los Muertos craft items by over 75 vendors and students from Texas A & M University – Corpus Christi demonstrating printmaking and sculpture techniques.
The Kids’ Corner includes crafts, games, a rock-climbing wall, entertainment by youth, and other fun activities for children. Treat Street, a Del Mar College’s Architecture student project, is a series of kid-sized haunted buildings where kids can Trick-or-Treat.
K Space Contemporary hosts a fine art exhibition by professional artists and Extravagancia de Piñatas youth piñata contest. The public is invited to vote for their favorite piñatas to help K-12 groups win supplies for their classrooms. New this year is our K-12 Youth Art Exhibition displayed at the Bay Jewel Event Center.
A traditional, spiritual component to the festival is the beautiful Walk of Remembrance Ofrenda Display in the historic Ritz Theater. At the center is a large community altar and an interactive remembrance area where visitors may honor deceased loved ones.
The Dia de los Muertos Festival has been listed as one of the Top 10 Dia de los Muertos celebrations in the US. Dia de los Muertos Festival was voted Best Festival in The Bend Magazine’s Local’s List three years running.
Dia de los Muertos Street Festival is coordinated by K Space Contemporary, Electra Art*Axis Tattoo, with assistance from House of Rock and numerous sponsors.Proceeds from the event benefit K Space Contemporary, a 501 (C) 3 non-profit arts organization.
