State of Downtown Address
The annual address in May serves as the Board of Director’s Annual Meeting, focusing on providing an economic development briefing of the area. The event program includes presenting awards for Downtown businesses to promote the area (Legacy Award, Best New Business Award, and Volunteer of the Year Award), as well as an informative lecture with a keynote speaker related to economic development in the state or nation. This is a non-profit event. This event also serves as an annual fundraiser for the non-profit
Tap Into Downtown Odessa
This event is a premier craft beer and wine tasting event. The event partners with local businesses on Grant Avenue to open their buildings to wineries and craft breweries, and hosts food trucks and live street performers. The event is aimed at attracting regional visitors in the area to taste regional wines and craft beer. We are proposing to add a second event this year due to a weather re-schedule that had an overwhelming response. The second event will be in March and host an Irish/St. Patrick’s Day theme.
This event is an Independence Day festival held in the heart of Downtown Odessa and has become a tradition for Odessa residents. The festival features live music and entertainment, children’s area, food trucks, beer garden, and a fireworks show to end the night. Fandango is a free community event that attracts local and regional visitors.
Hot Summer Nights
Every Friday in June, every Friday in July except July 5th and the first two Friday’s in August
This event runs every Friday night in June through the end of July and features food trucks and live music in Noel Heritage Park in Downtown Odessa. Downtown Odessa shares in regional advertising costs and hosts a booth to promote the organizations initiatives. Downtown Odessa partners with OCA&H to market the event across the region by utilizing creative online and social media techniques to attract tourists and out-of-town bands.
This event is a free, fun and family friendly event geared to creating a safe zone for trick-or-treating. This will be a partnership with Crossroads Fellowship and is expected to see 15,000 – 18,000 attendees in Downtown Odessa. It will include food trucks, rides, live music, jumpers, rock walls, hay rides, a petting zoo and more. Businesses included in the footprint will be given the opportunity to remain open, host activities and pass out candy to the children.
Shop Small on Small Business Saturday
This event advertises Downtown Odessa to the region as the premier place to shop on Small Business Saturday at the end of November.
Parade of Lights
1st Saturday in December
This annual parade attracts more than 40,000 visitors from around the region for this traditional lighted parade with more than 80 lighted floats and entries.
