Kerrville Chalk Festival
Kerrville Chalk Festival on October 12-13, 2019. Beginning at 10 AM each day, more than 65 artists, will create large-scale chalk murals directly on the pavement of Peterson Plaza. Vibrant street paintings by local, regional, and nationally known artists will create a hive of color and activity in downtown Kerrville.Everyone is invited to the
The Festival will feature numerous free activities for children, live music on stage, food trucks and a massive Founder’s Mural.
Chalk art, or street painting, allows crowds to interact with the artists and other viewers as the work evolves. The Festival-goers are an important part of the performance! The creation of a ten-foot square chalk painting may take a full two days to complete, only to be gone after it is washed away or the elements quickly degrade the work. The artists will tell you that the process is just as important as the finished piece.
Thanks to generous corporate and individual sponsors no admission fees will be charged and all activities are FREE.
The purpose of the Festival is to advocate for art and education by providing a family-oriented event for the entire Texas Hill Country community. The Festival is held on Peterson Plaza in the heart of Kerrville and each year a local arts or education focused nonprofit is featured. An estimated 10,000 people attend.
